Cutthroat Anglers' 2014 Belize Adventure

June 1-8, 2014

Join Cutthroat Anglers for our 2014 trip to Belize, this time to spectacular El Pescador from June 1 through June 8.  El Pescador has been around for 35 years and has earned a number of awards for its facility, including Trip Advisor’s 2012 Traveler’s Choice award, designation by Forbes Traveler as a “Top Ten Luxury Eco Resort”, and earning Orvis’ endorsement as an international destination.  El Pescador has a decidedly family-friendly feel. Absent is the coarseness of some fishing lodges and amenities abound: How many fishing lodges offer the services of an on-call masseuse?

RATES: El Pescador has extended its “Two Fer” pricing schedule to Cutthroat Angler’s guests. For this special, the first guest comes for the “single occupancy- beachfront room price” and the second guest sharing his/her room (and boat/guide) is FREE. So a 7-night/ 6-day fishing package is US$5720 for the first guest and the second sharing his/her beachfront double room and boat is FREE. Or, for guests who prefer to stay in a villa, a 7-night/ 6-day fishing package is US$6420 for the first guest and the second sharing his/her villa accommodation and boat is FREE.

TRAVEL INFORMATION: Guests will fly to Belize International Airport (BZE). There, they will proceed through Immigrations, collect their baggage and continue through Customs. After clearing Customs, they should continue into the Main Terminal directly to the Tropic Air Counter. El Pescador will arrange for your local round-trip transfers between the Belize International Airport and El Pescador. This is included as part of the package. Guests will be provided with e-tickets for the quick, 17-minute flight to San Pedro, Ambergris Caye. At the moment, Tropic Air offers hourly flights between Belize City and San Pedro, so you will only have a short layover at BZE for both legs of your trip.

A Representative of El Pescador will meet you at the Tropic Air baggage claim area at the San Pedro airport. A taxi will transport your luggage and you for the 2 blocks to the pier where the El Pescador representative will escort you to the lodge via a short boat ride.

All visitors to Belize must travel on a valid passport (non-expired). The passport must be valid for no less than six months after the intended period of stay in Belize. To enter the country of Belize as a tourist for a period of 30 days or less, citizens of the United States, Commonwealth realms, European Union Member States (EU) and Caribbean Community Member States (CARICOM) do NOT require a visa. Children under 18 years of age traveling with one parent require a notarized letter of authority from the other parent indicating travel consent. For additional information visit http://www.belize-immigration.org/immigration/visa/.

Upon departure from the Belize International Airport (BZE), an exit fee of US$35 per person is charged. Generally this fee is included in the price of your ticket. If not, it is payable at the airport in USD cash only. Please check with your airline if some or all of the departure tax is included in the price of your ticket.

DINING: El Pescador’s meals are not to be missed.  They are served family style in the dining room
or outside on the verandah. El Pescador’s Chef uses fresh local fruits, vegetables and seafood whenever possible. All of their breads and desserts are homemade. Guests should advise of any food allergies or any special dietary concerns, which El Pescador will be happy to accommodate. The meal schedule is as follows:  Breakfast: A la carte menu, served from 6a.m.–9a.m.
Lunch: A la carte menu, served from 12 p.m.–1p.m.
Bar Snacks: A la carte menu, served in the bar from 3p.m.–5p.m.  Dinner: Pre Fixe. Served at 6:45p.m.

LAUNDRY:  Laundry service is available for a nominal fee per item.  Guests are advised, however, that El Pescador uses brackish water for washing, which may leave small rust stains.

MASSAGES AND SPA SERVICES: Massages, manicures, pedicures, hair braiding and facials are available by appointment.

GRATUITIES:  El Pescador emphasizes that tipping is a personal decision based on service. As a general guideline, it is customary to leave US $50 per boat/per day to be given to your fishing guide directly.  All non-angling guides appreciate a 10-15% tip on the cost of the excursion.  El Pescador’s house staff includes front desk, housekeepers, bartenders, boat drivers, grounds keepers and wait-staff & kitchen staff.  It is customary to leave a group tip of US $15- $20 per guest, per day upon checkout to be pooled and divided equally for all house staff to encourage teamwork. It is not necessary to tip management.

CURRENCY: Guests will not need cash while at the lodge since El Pescador will run tabs for you.  The local currency is the Belize dollar, which is worth half the US dollar. US dollars are accepted everywhere; change will be given in Belize dollars. For convenience, guests should carry small bills to cover minor expenses. Visa and MasterCard are accepted at the lodge. There are 2 ATMs in San Pedro Town that dispense Belize dollars.

WATER:  El Pescador provides purified, bottled water for consumption.  Guests are advised not to drink tap water.

WI-FI ACCESS:  El Pescador offers complimentary WI-FI Internet access for email and basic web pages, such as for weather and news.  They do not have the bandwidth capacity for uploads, downloads or streaming of any kind. This includes music, video, movies, photos, satellite radio, SKYPE etc.

RESERVATIONS:  It is El Pescador’s reservation policy that a non-refundable deposit of 50% is required to hold both space and guides.  Reservations can be made by payment to Cutthroat Anglers, with the balance due no later than February 15, 2014, also payable to Cutthroat Anglers.

CANCELLATION POLICY:  All cancellations must be received in writing at Cutthroat Anglers.  Prior to 90 days of scheduled arrival, 100% of deposit may be transferred to another date/angler. Between 45 - 90 days of scheduled arrival, 50% of package may be transferred to another date or angler.  Less than 45 days prior to scheduled arrival may not be transferred or refunded. All cancellations have a $100 processing fee per guest.

Travel insurance is often recommended for international trips.  However, guests are cautioned to have a full understanding of the extent of coverage that may or may not be provided for cancelled travel, since such coverage may be very limited.
