Cutthroat Anglers Water Access

When it comes to fishing in Colorado, we’ve got more than the URL

Yes, it’s cool to own, but it’s way better to actually fish Colorado. And when it comes to that, we’re proud to be the best in the business.

The Cutthroat Anglers shop sits along the banks of the Blue River in Silverthorne, Colorado, but our guides cast in almost every fishable body of water within 100 miles of our fly shop. With the ever-changing nature of the rivers in our area, there is only one way to stay up-to-date on everything that Colorado fly fishing has to offer, and that’s to always be on the water. If you read about our guides, you’ll find that even when they aren’t guiding with us, they’ve always got a rod in their hands.

Since the day we opened, we’ve made water access for our trips a priority. Now, we pride ourselves on the fact that our guide service has one of the largest and best portfolios of water access permits in the state. There is almost every trout fishing environment available in Colorado — small streams, free stone rivers, tailwaters, high mountain lakes, still water reservoirs — and with us, you have access to all of it.

The state of Colorado is home to more than 2,000 reservoirs and lakes, within that is 315 miles of Gold Medal streams and 3 Gold Medal lakes — meaning the state has recognized them as places that are producing a standing stock of at least 60 pounds per acre and trout that are 14 inches or longer on a regular basis. Cutthroat Anglers is proud to be permitted to guide on six of the thirteen total Gold Medal Rivers.

The fishing is great in Colorado year-round, and our guides host fly fishing trips all year because each season provides unique opportunities that others cannot. While fishing fans from across the globe recognize Colorado for its unmatched dry fly fishing during the summer (usually June through September), we can’t get enough of fishing in the fall under the yellow Aspen trees or in the winter as a break from the ski season — and, if we’re being honest, the larger crowds.

We invite you to float, wade and cast into Colorado’s finest with Cutthroat.
