Fishing the Upper Colorado with Pammy! :: Cutthroat Anglers
Located just 45 minutes North of Silverthorne lies the Pumphouse recreation site. This stretch of the Upper Colorado River is a hot spot for fishing, boating, floating and just about anything else you can do in the water. Upstream of pumphouse is Gore Canyon, one of our favorite fishing locations in the state. This stretch of river is home to big numbers of brown and rainbow trout. The views in the canyon are incredible from the canyon walls, fast rapids, and even trains that come through.
Pam is fairly new to fly fishing but you can see the love for the sport every time she hooks a fish. One of the great things about fly fishing for us is the time, energy, and concentration it takes to hook a fish. When you are that involved in one thing, it lets you move away from other things on your mind and lets you be consumed by the environment and your surroundings.
On the menu for these fish were a few stoneflies, including Pat's rubber legs, wired stones, and Tungsten Iron Sallies. Other flies included the grey RS2 and the green Psycho Baetis. Featured in this flick are the Patagonia Fitzroy hat and Patagonia Spring River Waders, as well as the Fishpond Colorado edition mid-length net. If you get a chance we highly suggest you get up into the canyon for some fishing, boating, or just relaxation. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the film.
Thanks for viewing and get out there and fish!
