Lake Charters
Lake Charter Pricing
Many people think of fly fishing as an activity done on a river or creek. While true, fly fishing a lake or reservoir can be a very rewarding experience that'll provide you with new skills and experiences. We are lucky to have a shop surrounded by world class stillwater fisheries. From trophy pike and lake trout at Williams Fork Reservoir, to aggressive brown and cutbow trout at Wolford Mountain Reservoir, we have all the options to get you the experience you're looking for. If you book a lake charter, you will be fishing from the front and/or back of a motor boat as your guide gives you instructions sight fishing or blind casting for a chance at a fish of a lifetime.
Plan on an early morning (5 a.m.) as we like to target early fishing windows due to strong afternoon winds. We drive our clients from the shop to each fishing destination and travel times range from 45-90 minutes for lake charters so plan for some drive time. Guides will provide non-alcoholic beverages on all trips and food is not included on lake charters. We will provide rods, reels, boots, waders and flies. The only additional things you need to cover are a fishing license and gratuity.
HOW TO BOOK
Please call the shop at 970-262-2878 or email anglers@fishcolorado to request a guide trip. We take pride in catering our guide trip experiences to each angler and it is important that we have a full conversation at the time of booking. Therefore, we are no longer booking guide trips online.

WHERE WE GO?
Antero, Spinney and Eleven Mile Reservoirs: 3 famous lakes in South Park Colorado, home to some of the largest trout in Colorado and most diverse populations of trout in the West. The trout species you may encounter are Rainbows, Browns, Tigers, Brookies, Splake and 3 different species of Cutthroat; Snake River, Greenback and Colorado River. The alternate species you may also encounter are Tiger Musky, Kokanee Salmon, and of course the nuisance Sucker. Some of the best times of the year are early spring at ice off (around May 1) until the water warms up in mid-June.
Williams Fork Reservoir: "Willys" is a trophy fish destination east of Kremmling in the Colorado River valley. The species you may encounter are Brown Trout, Rainbow, Cutbows, Kokanee, Lake Trout (Mackinaw) and Northern Pike. The Lake Trout and Pike are some of the biggest fish in the state. With that being said, Williams Fork can be a tough place to catch fish, but with enough time you too can figure out this trophy fishery. Don't expect to catch numbers of fish here, but it only takes one bite to catch the fish of a lifetime. There are Pike over 45 inches as well as Lake Trout pushing the 40-pound mark in the Reservoir; why go to Canada? No passport needed here.
Wolford Mountain Reservoir: Wolford is a high desert lake north of Kremmling in the heart of Middle Park, with high Trout and Kokanee populations. The species you may encounter at Wolford are Brown Trout, Cutbows, Rainbows, Snake River Cutthroat, Colorado River Cutthroat, Splake, Kokanee Salmon and Pike. We know this lake for being one of the best trophy brown trout lakes close to home. Although sometimes elusive, the reward of sight fishing a 20+ inch brown is tough to beat. May till mid or late June can be tough on the lake depending on runoff; they don't call the creek filling the lake Muddy Creek for nothing. As turbidity subsides in late June, the fish move in shallow water to find the abundant population of crayfish/crawdads to feed on. You can catch Pike, Browns and Rainbows all in the same area throwing a variety of different flies, from crayfish patterns, to baitfish streamers, down to Chironomids.
