Local Fishing Bag Limits
The Blue River fishing regulations vary based on which stretch you are fishing. It is also our duty as anglers to report poaching. Please call CPW if you see any anglers keeping fish within Silverthorne town limits or violating bag limits outside of town!

Upper Blue
From Coyne Valley Road 3 miles north of Breckenridge to Dillon Reservoir.
1. Artifical Flies and Lures Only
2. Bag, possession and min. size of trout is 2, Brown trout over 14 inches must be immediately released. This section is closed Sept 1 - Dec 1.
Middle Blue
From Dillon Reservoir Dam to Hamilton Creek Road Bridge is Gold Metal Water.
1. Artificial Flies and Lures Only
2. Trout must be returned to the water immediately
From the north city limits of Silverthorne to Green Mountain Reservoir
1. Artifical Flies and Lures Only
2. Bag, possession and min. size of trout is 2, 16 inches or longer
3. Snagging kokanee permitted Sept. 1 - Dec. 31
Lower Blue
From Green Mountain Reservoir to the Colorado River is Gold Metal Water.
1. Artificial Flies and Lures Only
2. Trout must be returned to the water immediately
Dillon Reservoir
1. All Char less than 20" must be returned to the water immediately
2. Bag limit for char more than 20" is one fish
3. Statewide regulations apply to other fish species which is 4 fish with a total possession limit of 8
