A List for Santa

Christmas shopping can be stressful and shopping for anglers can be difficult because most us are gear heads and seem to have it all.   We took the stress out of shopping and compiled a list of top gifts that are for both the beginner and the gear head. No matter what your budget is for the holidays, we have a little bit of everything here at Cutthroat.

Simple. Awesome. Functional. Affordable. When unzipped you stand on it and you have a clean place to take your waders and boots off and on without worrying about debris getting into youer boots or putting a hole in your waders. Simms Taco zips up while the Fishpond Burrito Wader Bag has a drawstring. Both have plenty of ventilation, allowing moisture to escape and your waders and boots to dry.

Able Nippers are a perfect gift for the angler that seems to have everything.  While most nippers dull over time, these puppies stay sharp enough to cut line diagnally which allows the angler to feed line through the eye of small flies effortlessly.  A Colorado based company out of Montrose, Abel strives to make the best and most durable fishing products on the market. These nippers hold up to that standard.  Abel will replace everything but the paint. We have various styles from  solid colors to the Colorado flag to the Wild Trout pattern pictured here.

The Simms Challenger Jacket was made for brisk early mornings and stormy afternoons. Wind protection, water proofing and insulation are all attributes your jacket should have in the winter, each equally important.  The Simms Challenger Insulated Jacket has them all covered.  Our favorite part of this jacket is the PrimaLoft insulation.  PrimaLoft® is a brand of patented synthetic microfiber thermal insulation material that was developed for the United States Army in the 1980s.  It takes warm to a new level.

MFC's Poly Boxes are made of a proprietary plastic that allows them to "tattoo" their artist's images into the box for a vibrant finish that lasts for years. This design has quickly become a favorite among anglers.  The box is two sided to maximize fly storage area.

There is a rod for every scenario these days and it takes time to build a quiver that covers them all.  The Scott G Series is a high-end, medium-action rod that can be used for both nymping and dry fly fishing making it a great addition to the Colorado angler's rod collection.  These rods have been hand made in Montrose, CO for 45 years and are a real thing of beauty.  They cast pretty well too..

Who doesn't like great fish patterns?  These socks are made out of Merino Wool resulting in maximum comfort and functionality.  A fun gift for the fishy person in your life..

We tested out the NV-G on a recent trip to Florida and it is a reel treat to fish with (see what I did there).  From tarpon, to bonefish to pike this reel can do it all.  Its a bomb proof option for both saltwater and freshwater fishing.  The NV-G features the patented and award-winning NV CCF Disc Braking System.  Also fun fact, wet backing is the leading cause of corrosion in fly reels, and the G-Spool design dries 14 times faster than traditional designs.

This is one of the smallest and most inexpensive gifts you’ll find and it makes for a great stocking stuffer.  This retractor is truly designed to be the easiest and fool proof angling product Fishpond had created.  Just pin it to your pack or vest and whatever you put on it, you have access to without it getting tangled.  The coil won’t get tangled like those old telephone cords you had attached to the wall, yes- that was a thing before cell phones..
