Start off 2017 right by escaping Winter and joining Cutthroat Anglers for our return trip to Guanaja, Honduras from March 25 – April 1, 2017.  If you are looking to hunt for permit, tarpon and bonefish in a somewhat remote, very comfortable setting then this is the trip for you. TRIP COST:  The cost for 7 nights of lodging and 6 days of fishing is $3965 per person, double occupancy;  the single occupancy rate is $4635.  Included in that package are all guide services, meals, drinks, and alcohol.  Rods and reels are available, as well as a well-stocked fly tying table for tying some "custom" Kwan or Kung Fu flies.  Not included are travel costs to and from Roatan, staff and guide gratuities, minor entry and exit taxes (generally less than $5.00 each), and the round-trip flight cost between Roatan and Granaja (generally about $200).  The latter travel leg is arranged by the staff at Fly Fish Guanaja.

THE SETTING:  Picture yourself on a private Caye surrounded by a flat that you would be hard-pressed to fish in one day.  You'll be relaxing on the cantilevered deck over the flat, either soaking up the Honduras sun or casting to fish from the deck.   The "lodge" was once a private residence that now houses 6-8 anglers very comfortably (6 anglers are expected to be at the lodge during our stay).  Rooms are large and airy, allowing the sounds of wavering palm leaves and waves to lull you to sleep at night.  Accommodations are very clean and supported by outstanding staff.   There are even 2 parrots that move freely about the Caye who often serve as morning alarm clocks with their chatter.

FISHING:  Our schedule will coincide with the onset of the new moon on March 27. Fishing generally targets permit, bonefish, and tarpon.  Our experience has been that anglers can expect to have numerous shots at all species, either as schools or solitary individuals.

Fishing is from flats skiffs equipped with lean poles.  Boat rides to fishing areas are as close as one minute from the lodge - there are no 60-minute, backbreaking boat rides to distant fishing areas here.  One of our favorite flats was within walking distance of the lodge.  That, plus a frequent ability to get anglers out of the wind, makes the fishing day that much better.  Plus, you will not see many other anglers from other lodges, if any at all.

Guides are English-speaking, all are natives of Guanaja and most are family members who have fished the area's waters their entire lives.  The guides are very easy going, enjoyable to fish with and anxious to help you catch fish.
