Introducing Trout Hunter Tippet :: Cutthroat Anglers

Supple, versatile, powerful. These are the first three things that come to mind when I think of TroutHunter tippet material. Our newest line of tippet is flying off the shelf here at Cutthroat. We would like to introduce you to TroutHunter Fluorocarbon tippet in sizes three through six and a half. That’s right, this tippet comes in half sizes! The versatility of this tippet is outstanding, especially with sizes four through six and a half. I especially like the five and a half. This specific size, I think, is a great medium when you’re not hooking up with five but popping off a bunch of fish with the six. The fish seem more willing to take your fly with this lighter tippet and it still gives you the opportunity to take control of landing and safely returning, the beast back to the depths from which it once came. Here is a rundown of the sizes we are currently carrying, their pull power, and diameters.

You can see that there are a variety of strengths and sizes to help you land that tricky trophy you’ve been after all these years.

Beyond its tremendous strength and suppleness, TroutHunter tippet comes wrapped in a waterproof and UV resistant package, which will extend shelf and tippet life. Especially here in Colorado, where the sun is blazing three hundred plus days a year, I could use a little extra longevity with my tippet spools. And speaking of longevity, all of these fluorocarbon spools come in fifty-meter spools! This means less time in the shop picking up supplies, less chance of running a spool empty in the middle of your day, and more time on the water handling fish like a boss. Every tippet spool comes with a larger center diameter that you can fit your thumb in for ease of tying on bugs and pulling offline, pretty handy when you are behind the oars or staring down a beast that’s waiting for your flies. Color-coded, UV resistant bands keep your spools intact and in order. Finally, a sharp little container/tippet post comes in 4 colors and is a great place to store some extra indicators or anything else you may need to keep close. With the majestic Blue river within striking distance of our shop, we know a bit about throwing light tippets to big fish, and I can truly say this is one of the best tippet lineups I have ever used.
