WHERE WE GO?
Antero Reservoir: Antero is one of the 3 famous lakes in South Park Colorado, home to some of the largest trout in Colorado and most diverse populations of trout in the West. The trout species you may encounter are Rainbows, Browns, Tigers, Brookies, Splake and 3 different species of Cutthroat; Snake River, Greenback and Colorado River. The alternate species you may also encounter are Tiger Musky, Kokanee Salmon, and of course the nuisance Sucker. Some of the best times of the year are early spring at ice off (around May 1) until the water warms up in mid-June. Some Great hatches can happen from June through July, depending on water temperature, we can fish all summer. August usually has a low time but come September till the ice forms sometime early December, game on again!
Williams Fork Reservoir: "Willys" is a trophy fish destination east of Kremmling in the Colorado River valley. The species you may encounter are Brown Trout, Rainbow, Cutbows, Kokanee, Lake Trout (Mackinaw) and Northern Pike. The Lake Trout and Pike are some of the biggest fish in the state. With that being said, Williams Fork can be a tough place to catch fish, but with enough time you too can figure out this trophy fishery. Don't expect to catch numbers of fish here, but it only takes one bite to catch the fish of a lifetime. There are Pike over 45 inches as well as Lake Trout pushing the 40-pound mark in the Reservoir; why go to Canada? No passport needed here.
Wolford Mountain Reservoir: Wolford is a high desert lake north of Kremmling in the heart of Middle Park, with high Trout and Kokanee populations. The species you may encounter at Wolford are Brown Trout, Cutbows, Rainbows, Snake River Cutthroat, Colorado River Cutthroat, Splake, Kokanee Salmon and Pike. We know this lake for being one of the best trophy brown trout lakes close to home. Although sometimes elusive, the reward of sight fishing a 20+ inch brown is tough to beat. May till mid or late June can be tough on the lake depending on runoff; they don't call the creek filling the lake Muddy Creek for nothing. As turbidity subsides in late June, the fish move in shallow water to find the abundant population of crayfish/crawdads to feed on. You can catch Pike, Browns and Rainbows all in the same area throwing a variety of different flies, from crayfish patterns, to baitfish streamers, down to Chironomids.
