It is hard to say exactly what the Chubby Chernobyl imitates, but our best guess is the adult stage of a large stone fly, think adult version of the Pat's Rubber Legs. The Chubby is both visibile and extremely buoyant making it a great dry dropper lead fly or double hopper rig in smaller sizes. With some Fly-Agra, this fly will float for days, even when you have a Pickle and a Tungsten fly dropped below it. The Chubby Chernobyl is a fairly simple tie and you should have lots of them in various color combinations in your bug box this summer.
