What Fishing Net is Right for You? :: Cutthroat Anglers

The Fishpond Nomad series of nets are constructed with carbon fiber/fiberglass composite material. The result is a very lightweight and durable net. Nomad Nets are waterproof, UV protected, and float like a cork. All Nomad Nets come standard with a rubber bag for non-tangle hook removal. There are multiple sizes of nets including the Native, Hand, Mid-length, Guide, And El Jefe. Each style has different benefits for different types of anglers.

The native is a small hand net great for the day hiker that wants a durable, lightweight net. The longer basket profile is great for picking up high altitude brookies and cutthroat as well and landing fish on your everyday streams and rivers. Although it can be done, I wouldn’t suggest going after anything over 20” as you might have a hard time fitting it in this style basket.

The Hand net is a great sized net for all you sling pack wearers out there. This net comes equipped with a short lanyard and clip to keep it secure and out of the way until you need it. With a larger basket, you don’t have to ever worry about not being able to scoop up that beast when the time comes.

The most popular of the fishpond Nomad series is absolutely the Mid-length net. This net has the same basket as the hand net but a longer handle aimed at those avid lumbar pack wearers out there. Not only does the longer handle help keep your net tucked away until you need it, it also is quite a back saver when trying to land those finicky fish that just don’t seem to want to give up.  These nets are also available in 3 custom limited edition colors, the Colorado, Montana, and Wyoming

The El Jefe net is a great mix of the mid-length and guide nets but with a much larger basket. With almost 4” of extra length in the baskets and another 2” of depth, the El Jefe will make sure that when you run into that monster you’ve been hunting, you have the space to land it safely and comfortably.  This net is also not too long that you can't use it as an everyday wading net.

  • 41.5” Length
  • Weight with rubber bag: 535g or 1.23lbs
  • 13”W x 21.75”L Head
  • Bag depth of 14"

The Guide net is designed for its namesake. This net has the same basket as the Hand and Mid-length nets but it adds another 10+ “ to the handle. Designed for the quick catch and release of fish on a guide trip, the Guide net allows you to get around your client and scoop up that lunker with ease. This net is also great for your back and will keep you out on the water year-round getting people onto fish.

  • Weight with rubber bag: 475g or 1lbs
  • 13”W x 18”L Head

The rising nets are made from anodized aluminum, which keeps them lightweight and extremely durable. With a knurled texture etched into the handle for great grip, these nets really pop on the water! All nets are American Made and come equipped with a soft rubber net, which is great for both fish and your flies. Nets are also equipped with a secret gasket sealed end cap, which makes for a great streamside flask or dry storage.

The Brookie 10 is great hand net for all occasions out on the water. Specifically, I think it really shines in walk, wade, and hike trips.  With a total length of 28” it won’t be cumbersome to carry around but still has a big enough basket to land decent sized fish with ease.  This net has all the features of the rising line, but in a compact package.

The Lunker 24 is Rising's most popular net. This net is not only great for a walk and wade trip, but it can also be utilized as a wading staff or a boat net. Great features with this net include basket markings from 12” all the way up to 21” as well as the secret gasket sealed end cap, which will hold 6 oz. of liquid. Another great feature this net offers is the net it held together with an acetal bolt for ease of disassembly, travel, or bag change.  With two different bag colors and three different metal colors, you can really customize this net to your specific liking. Overall a great net that will last you a long time and keep you looking fresh out on the water.

C & R

The C&R is a great net with a very unique shape. This net comes in at 26” total with a cool hoop measuring 8”W X 17”L. On top of being available in the float model, this net is also available in a Plus model, which adds 2” to the handle. The longer hoop design makes landing fish a little easier from afar, but also helps getting them back into the water safely, hence the name C&R (catch and release)
